“What was that!?” I blurted out, as I practically jumped through the ceiling.

There standing before me was a figure that only my imagination could conjure up, which says some pretty strange things about my imagination.

It then spoke. “Hi, I’m Will, your will power. You can call me William.”

There he stood right in front of me, my will power, with his tall thin physique and reddish brown hair and freckles. Arnold Schwartzeneger, he wasn’t.

Charlie, ready to take his leave, concluded, “I have given William Power full power to summon any of your senses he feels necessary to help you fulfill your goals.”

Smugly I responded, “You can try all you want, but there isn’t any part of me that I can’t look straight in the eye and take total control of.”

William, putting his hands over his temples in an attempt to help his concentration, chanted, “I hereby summon Hugo Appetite.”

“I mean besides him!”

Appearing was yet another strange figure, one that actually made me laugh out loud.

This one was tall and had a head full of curly dark brown hair, almost “afro” like, but with body.

“William,” I chuckled, “Can’t you do better than that? If I had known Mr. Appetite was such a wimp, I wouldn’t have had a weight problem to begin with!” Then, turning to Hugo, I gave him the old head-to-toe appraisal. “So, You’re Mr. Appetite. You don’t look so tough to me. Go ahead, give it all you got!” I said, challenging him with my cocky personality emerging.

Hugo responded with cool confidence, “Strawberry shortcake with whipped cream and strawberry glaze.”

“That’s not fair!” I shrieked, “You never told me he talks!”

Over the next few days, I was introduced to more of my silly senses. William felt it necessary to summon the lovely Burnine Desire to instill in me the urge to accomplish my goals. Burnine had long fiery red hair just as curly as Hugo’s. But while Hugo’s hair looked natural, Burnine’s hair looked as though she just had it permed, which I thought was odd, since their curls looked the same. He also conjured up Carmen Sense to make sure that what I desired out of life didn’t get me into more trouble than I naturally would get myself into. Carmen had straight, plain brunette hair and enjoyed wearing her favorite hat. Her crossed eyes gave her an innocent look, and she, along with all of us, was blessed with the “dreaded-freckles.” My freckles, however, are not near as noticeable as the others, and my hair, like Carmen’s, is straight and plain.

Immediately, William took over the job of administration. My senses set out to lecturing and training me in the good things like self-control from Carmen, self-esteem from Burnine, and Hugo tried to teach me about good nutrition and sensible eating.
